Seliavski Law’s Approach to Legal Representation.
Seliavski Law was founded on the belief that legal representation should use a holistic approach to advocacy, recognizing the broader impact of the law on both individuals and the community. As attorneys, we hold substantial power, and at Seliavski Law, I share that power by helping clients understand their rights so they can make confident, informed choices about their cases. I will take time to explain the law and the reasoning behind the strategies I propose, ensuring that your experience remains at the center of every step of the legal process. By listening to your story, I gain the insight needed to create legal solutions that truly reflect the realities of your life.

I listen to your needs and the experiences you’ve been through, and I strive to craft legal solutions from a holistic perspective.
While I specialize in certain areas of law, I recognize that legal challenges intersect with other aspects of your life. That’s why I take the time to understand how your personal circumstances interact with your legal options, considering not only the effectiveness of a solution, but also its emotional impact on you. My goal is to help you navigate the legal process in a way that aligns with your overall well-being.

Too often, clients are asked to consent to a legal process that they don’t fully understand. I recognize how anxiety-inducing the legal system can be, and I believe it’s essential for people to truly consent to the experience they may face. In criminal defense, many clients feel stripped of their power to make informed choices. I believe in restoring some of that agency by clearly explaining every step of the process, ensuring that you are fully informed and in control of your legal journey.

Julea Seliavski, Esq
Julea Seliavski received their J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law and their M.F.A. in Curatorial Practice from the Maryland Institute College of Art and Design. They were raised in Virginia and attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where they earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture. Julea has over five years of experience in business immigration and more than seven years of work as a community organizer assisting defendants in navigating the criminal justice system. They are fluent in Russian in addition to English.
During law school, Julea worked at the Maryland Public Defenders’ Office within the Post Conviction Defenders Division. During that time, they assisted in crafting a post-conviction argument and in drafting a petition that led to the exoneration of a client.
In 2020, Julea co-founded RVA26, an organization dedicated to assisting Richmond defendants navigate the pretrial process in the Richmond City Jail. They worked with the Commonwealth Law Group to organize incarcerated individuals in filing a lawsuit against the Jail for civil rights violations. In 2022, Julea Seliavski collaborated with the Baltimore Action Legal Team (BALT) and emphasized the importance of providing tangible information about successful impact litigation to the public. They assisted the lead attorney in a case advocating for the public availability of police misconduct records under the Maryland Public Information Act. In conjunction with the lawsuit, Julea created a website for BALT called Right2Access, providing resources to help the public file their own records requests and learn more about the case.
Julea currently serves on the board of the National Disabled Law Students Association (NDLSA), where they are dedicated to fostering a more inclusive legal profession. They believe that a diverse and accessible legal field leads to stronger, more equitable representation for all clients.
Julea holds a deep belief that legal representation must be collaborative, client-centered, and rooted in mutual respect–recognizing that every individual is an expert of their own experience. They approach advocacy with a consent-based mindset, acknowledging the complexities of intersectionality and the potential trauma that legal processes may have on a person or their loved ones. This is why they prioritize choosing the right legal solution from a holistic understanding of the client’s lived experience.
